Works On Paper 2010-2016
I have continually produced drawings both as studies for three dimensional works or as independant excercises that stimulate and influence my practice. I utilize the graphic format of architectural drafting to conceive of spatial scenarios and their contents. This language was acquired through my employment experiences as an architectural drafter/ designer. These experiences offered a unique way of viewing the world of three dimensional objects using orthographic projection-breaking down forms into plan, section, elevation, and details, etc. Many of the works resemble detailed technical drawings-mainly using pen & ink & graphite. I am also interested in using brushes and India Ink to create a contrast between soft organic textures and hard-lined marking systems.
